A greeks opinion... - 300 Reviews

I will be very strict on this and emphasize on the fact that THIS IS NOT THE ACTUALL 100% HISTORY of what excactly had happened at Thermopyles, so all of you who are expecting to see a historic movie please stay home.I am a big fan of Frank Miller, and despite the fact that I am Greek (and actually named Leonidas...hehe), I was not offented at all by the movie. The storyline is not very rich I have to admitt, but it overall serves its purpose, and that is to tell the whole world that against all odds, 300 hundrend brave soldiers of Ancient Greece fought for freedom against a massive army of millions. We might never know excactly what happened on the battlefield, as thousands of years have passed, so it is left uppon the director and writer to twist and turn the plot for a more appealing movie, which is fine by me. If you read the actuall history, you will see that most of it is covered in the film, so please be gentle. I am very satisfied with the acting, although I would expect from the directors to try not to make everything Hollywood based, and so Americanised. A few Greek words and language would not harm anyone, and please be very happy with the fact that Mell Gibson was not involved because then it would all have been in Ancient Greek!!! (I would love to see that!!) The second thing that, not excaclty dissapointed me, but left me with a bit of bitterness, is that again as all AmericanoHollywoody films do,they seem to repeat themselves over the years. So with a little bit of perception, you will find out that "The Gladiator" and "The Lord Of The Rings" is there in many parts of the movie! Well, what really motivated me to see the film is the excellent way that Frank miller is presenting what he has in his mind through the use of stunningly excellent visuall effects, colour pallete, photography, and camera move. Again I feel it should have been more sincity like in terms of black and white, but that is my humble opinion, which might have ruined the joy of millions of viewers. I wouldn't miss it if I were you, but if I were you, I would be very opened minded, and let my self surpass moral ethics, historical incorrectness, standard cheesy cinematography and enjoy this memorable-speial film guilt free... Great Stuff!!! -enjoy.
